Farmers Union Network of Liberia (FUN) was founded on February 15, 2008 by Farmers leaders representing five of Liberia 15 Counties for the sole purpose of defending Liberians Farmers and advocating for fairer agricultural climate in Liberia. Since its establishment FUN has implemented projects for several donors including International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) ROPPA and etc.. Farmers Union Network of Liberia is currently implementing project for FAO Co- name Forest and Farms Facility (FFF) Farmers Union Network of Liberia has received funding from FAO to be implemented in 6 of the 15 Counties of Liberia: Lofa,Nimba, Margibi, River Cess, Gbarpolu and Grand Cape Mount.
Farmers Union Network of Liberia is also implementing an advisory project with funding from OSIWA (Open Society Initiative of West Africa). The project titled “Promoting Greater Farmer Participation in Advocacy for Policy Change”. The objectives of the project is to empower farmers groups and cooperatives, especially women farmers, to claim political and social space in shaping policy and investment decisions affecting thein livelihoods. The project is also to promote local farmers, active participation in policy implementation processes through outreach and education, lobbying alliance and coalition, media engagement and litigation. Farmers Union Network of Liberia must operate professionally and ensure creating public value in order to engender public confidence and continue to arouse and command donor support.
